Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, convicted of financial crimes by the Vatican, will not participate in the upcoming papal conclave. Despite initially appealing his exclusion, Becciu announced Tuesday he will obey Pope Francis's wishes. The conclave, to elect a new pope for 1.4 billion Catholics, is scheduled for May 7th. Becciu, once a powerful figure in the Vatican, maintains his innocence and his appeal is pending.
