The conclave to elect the 267th Pope will begin on May 7th, 2025, following Masses for the late Pope Francis. Around 180 cardinals, slightly over 100 of whom are electors, will participate in the Sistine Chapel. A two-thirds majority is needed to elect a new Pope. Daily voting will occur, with black smoke signaling an inconclusive ballot and white smoke indicating a new Pope. The new Pope will then accept the election, choose a name, and give the Urbi et Orbi blessing.
