Thousands paid their respects to Pope Francis at St. Peter's Basilica for a second day, following an overnight viewing. Over 50,000 people viewed the late pontiff's body in the first 24 hours. His simple coffin, in keeping with his wishes, lies on the main altar. The basilica reopened at 7 am after remaining open until 5:30 am. Francis' funeral mass will be held Saturday, attended by world leaders, before his burial at the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, breaking tradition. Speculation mounts regarding his successor, with a conclave expected after May 5th.
