California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed two lawsuits against the Trump administration, challenging a policy that would withhold billions in transportation and homeland security grants unless states comply with stricter immigration enforcement. The lawsuits, joined by 20 states, argue the policy exceeds the administration's authority and jeopardizes public safety. The administration contends that states accepting federal funds must adhere to federal laws. The lawsuits raise the question of whether the federal government can withhold funds to punish sanctuary jurisdictions, a matter previously unresolved by the Supreme Court.

A lawsuit against the Trump administration concerning the deportation of a 2-year-old U.S. citizen and her Honduran mother to Honduras has been dropped. The family, represented by the ACLU and others, cited the trauma experienced and the need to explore all options for the child's well-being. The lawsuit alleged the deportation violated the family's rights and lacked due process. A federal judge had expressed concerns about the legality of the deportation. The family is now seeking alternative solutions.

The Trump administration ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for approximately 9,000 Afghan refugees, despite concerns they face deportation and death upon return. This decision, coinciding with the welcoming of Afrikaner refugees from South Africa, sparked outrage among veterans and human rights groups who deem it a betrayal of allies. Critics argue the administration's claim of improved security in Afghanistan is unfounded, while advocates highlight the immense risk to Afghans who aided the U.S. A lawsuit has been filed challenging the TPS termination.

Converting a Qatari-owned 747 into a new Air Force One for Donald Trump would cost over $1 billion and take years, according to aviation experts. Refurbishing the 13-year-old jet would exceed its current value and might not be completed by 2029. Experts say the project is impractical, as Boeing is already building replacements. The Qatari jet would require extensive dismantling and installation of top-secret systems, potentially delaying completion into the 2030s. Boeing could benefit financially from a new contract for this project.

Elon Musk and David Sacks' alleged attempt to install pro-AI leadership at the US Copyright Office backfired. Donald Trump, reportedly influenced by Musk, fired Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden and Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter. However, their replacements, Paul Perkins and Brian Nieves, are staunchly anti-tech and backed by the MAGA wing of the Republican Party. This unexpected outcome is a win for anti-tech populists who oppose AI companies' use of copyrighted material without payment. The legality of Trump's actions and the ongoing constitutional crisis surrounding the firings remain unresolved.

President Trump's Middle East tour has yielded multi-billion dollar deals, significantly boosting his and his family's wealth. Investments in Trump-branded ventures from Gulf states, along with a Qatari donation of a Boeing 747, have contributed to this surge. His family has also profited from ventures like Truth Social and Liberty World Financial, a cryptocurrency exchange. Critics raise ethical concerns about the blurring of lines between Trump's presidential role and personal business dealings, particularly in the largely unregulated cryptocurrency market. His net worth has reportedly doubled in the past year.

The White House announced President Trump secured $600 billion in deals during his Saudi Arabia visit. However, details released were vague and totaled significantly less. Many of the cited projects were already underway before Trump's presidency. The announcement preceded Trump's speech at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, where he boasted about strong US-Saudi relations.

French President Macron affirmed France's commitment to imposing sanctions on Russia, while expressing willingness to discuss a shared nuclear umbrella with European allies under specific conditions. He emphasized that France wouldn't bear the cost of others' security and that nuclear deployment authority remains solely with the French president. Macron reiterated his opposition to seizing frozen Russian assets, citing a lack of legal framework. His remarks follow concerns among European allies about reduced US protection under the Trump administration.

In a Riyadh speech, President Trump criticized past US interventionist foreign policies, praising instead a focus on national interests and traditions. He announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria to aid Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and offered Iran a new path while threatening further pressure if rejected. Trump also expressed hope for Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords, advocated for a swift end to the Gaza conflict with hostage release, and highlighted US support for Lebanon's new government. He claimed a requested $1 trillion military budget would ensure peace, a claim disputed by some lawmakers.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has placed a hold on all Justice Department political nominees due to concerns over the Trump administration's plan to accept a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar as Air Force One. Schumer cites national security risks and potential Emoluments Clause violations. He demands answers regarding security measures, costs, and potential quid pro quo arrangements. While the White House claims compliance with the law, several Republicans, including Senators Thune, Murkowski, and Rounds, voiced concerns about the offer's implications for national security and ethics.
