Deshaun Watson was placed in the NFL concussion protocol after reporting symptoms following a helmet‑to‑helmet hit by Jaquan Brisker in the first quarter of the Browns’ 27‑6 loss to the Steelers. Watson, who was cleared to return during the game, was later removed and evaluated again on Monday and Tuesday, ultimately entering the protocol. The move leaves the Browns’ starting quarterback in jeopardy for Week nine, when Shedeur Sanders could step in to face the Saints. Sanders, who last started on January fourth, led the Browns to a 20‑18 win over the Bengals. Watson was sacked eight times and hit thirteen by Pittsburgh.
