The 2026 midterm elections produced a historic blue tsunami, with the Democratic Party capturing both chambers of Congress and flipping seven Senate seats and at least twenty-nine House seats.

Voters expressed deep dissatisfaction with the economy, with seventy‑five percent rating it as poor or not so good, and more than eighty percent worried about rising costs of gas, food, utilities, and healthcare.

Sixty‑nine percent believed the economic system favored the wealthy, while only thirty‑one percent felt it favored most Americans.

Sixty‑two percent blamed President Donald Trump’s policies for higher prices, and sixty‑five percent said his tariff policies hurt the national economy.

Thirty‑seven percent favored Republican economic control, but forty‑three percent favored Democrats, a reversal from the 2024 election.
