Kanzler Hired As Mariners New Manager | JQJO

Seattle Mariners announced Jason Kanzler as their new manager on Tuesday morning. The 36‑year‑old, who spent the past three seasons as the Cubs’ director of player development, will become the first‑time skipper at any level in the organization. Kanzler was one of two finalists, alongside former Astros manager Joe Espada, after a third and final round of interviews held in person at T‑Mobile Park. The club’s decision phase began last Thursday, ran through the weekend, and concluded on Monday. He becomes the twenty‑second manager in franchise history and the third under president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto, who is entering his twelfth season. Kanzler replaces Dan Wilson, whose tenure ended after two‑plus years following Game one‑sixty‑two of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.
