A security researcher demonstrated a software‑only jailbreak of the Switch 2, gaining userland access that allows running homebrew, backing up save files, and accessing most peripherals. The exploit relies on an integer overflow in the original Switch version of SmileBasic 4, a programming environment previously used in the 3DS smilehax hack. After about two weeks of testing, the researcher discovered a 32‑bit overflow that exposes an array pointer, enabling read/write access to system memory. From there, a buffer overflow in the FileSystem services module granted arbitrary read/write privileges, leading to native code execution. The proof‑of‑concept included modded characters in Mario Kart World, but the current userland exploit remains sandboxed and does not provide kernel‑level control.

YouTube has begun testing a change that removes the Subscriptions tab from the bottom navigation bar on its Android and iOS apps. The tab is now positioned in the top bar on the Home screen, appearing as the second item after Home. This shift follows a decade of the tab’s placement in the bottom bar, dating back to 2017. Alongside the move, YouTube is introducing custom feeds for Live, Music, and Movies & TV, and is redesigning the top bar to feature dedicated feeds. The changes are part of a broader effort to streamline the Home experience and are currently in testing on mobile and desktop for U.S. users.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Arch Manning is "edgy" after back‑to‑back losses to unranked opponents. The Longhorns, ranked No. one, fell 27‑24 to Oklahoma in Week six and again 27‑24 to Florida in Week seven. Both defeats came after Manning committed pivotal fourth‑quarter turnovers. Sarkisian noted the quarterback’s edge and expressed confidence that he will fight back. Texas faces No. seven Ole Miss next, with the outcome affecting playoff hopes.

Experts say that, one day after governments warned that severe PHP flaws could force websites offline, there have been few, if any, reports of widespread damage. Across all telemetry, Sophos’ Don Smith noted only a couple of real exploitation attempts. Industry leaders—including CrowdStrike, ESET, Google Threat Intelligence Group, Huntress, Palo Alto Networks, Recorded Future, SecureWorks, Sophos and Trail of Bits—reported to NBC News that, as of Thursday evening, no successful attacks had been observed. The vulnerabilities, affecting an estimated 69% of all websites, were quietly patched after a global effort, and many sites went dark until updates were applied. Cybersecurity experts warn the threat will remain for weeks, if not longer, but early signs suggest the flaws are harder to exploit than initially thought.
