On Thursday, a sixteen‑year‑old intruder opened fire in a special educational needs classroom at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon, killing three children and a teacher. The teacher wrestled the gunman and threw her phone, while a nearby father, armed with a concealed pistol, entered the school and shot the suspect multiple times, preventing further casualties. Police released the suspect’s name, Griffin J John II, and confirmed he had previously attended the school. A search warrant was executed at his home the following day, and investigators are still determining how he acquired the shotgun and ammunition. The incident has prompted calls for enhanced school security and community support for the affected families.
