Masked Israeli settlers assaulted Palestinian olive harvesters in the occupied West Bank on Friday, injuring several people, including an American photojournalist for The Washington Post. The photographer, Heidi Levine, was wearing a press vest when she was beaten, kicked, and had her cameras and phone torn from her. Medical staff rushed her to a hospital, where she received care. Israeli police acknowledged the incident and pledged an investigation, while the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem condemned criminal violence and called for arrests and convictions. The attack followed a pattern of settler violence earlier this month, when an AFP photographer was beaten near Aqraba. Palestinian journalists and advocacy groups have labeled the assaults as a threat to press freedom and a violation of international rules protecting journalists in conflict zones.
