A nineteen‑year‑old man was charged with distributing fentanyl and raping a student at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Prosecutors say he lured two women into a dorm room on eighteen March, claiming the drug was cocaine. The substance, a lethal opioid, rendered one unconscious and ultimately killed her on twenty‑first March. The case also implicates two other defendants, one of whom pleaded guilty in September. The federal government has scheduled a sentencing for the guilty party on fifteen December. The charges highlight the growing danger of fentanyl‑related crimes in the United States.
