Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler have taken on the iconic roles of Ricardo Tubbs and Sonny Crockett in Joseph Kosinski’s new film, Miami Vice ’85. The reboot, which drops its first look on Variety, promises a glossy, corruption‑laden portrait of mid‑eighty‑sized Miami, echoing the original series that ran from nineteen eighty‑four to nineteen eighty‑nine. Filming began in early 2026, with the cast also featuring Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, and John Leguizamo, among others. The movie will arrive in theaters on May nineteenth, two thousand twenty‑eight, after a script penned by Dan Gilroy and earlier drafts by Eric Warren Singer. Jordan, fresh from a best‑actor win for Sinners, will next star in The Thomas Crown Affair, while Butler heads to A24’s Enemies.
