Tap title to read story
Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, addressed the Tarang Shakti forum, stressing that "Atmanirbhar Bharat" does not equate to isolation. He highlighted how technological progress—drones, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and long‑range precision weapons—shapes modern battlefields. Singh urged the nation to build indigenous capabilities while remaining open to global collaboration. The minister’s remarks underscore a shift from traditional self‑reliance to a balanced approach that blends domestic innovation with international cooperation, ensuring India’s defence readiness and economic resilience.
The speech reflects a broader policy narrative that began in June 2020, when the government clarified that self‑reliance should not mean protectionism. In 2022, the vision was reiterated, emphasizing open, interconnected growth. Singh’s comments continue this trajectory, aligning defence strategy with the nation’s self‑reliant yet globally engaged stance.
