Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a lawsuit in state court against Pfizer and its Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourla, accusing the pharmaceutical giant of misleading consumers regarding the safety, effectiveness, and market conduct of its COVID-19 vaccine. The lawsuit alleges that Pfizer falsely marketed the vaccine as safe while omitting potential risks such as heart inflammation and other adverse effects, and that it promoted the vaccine for stopping transmission without prior testing for transmission prevention. Furthermore, the state claims Pfizer used unfair tactics to dominate the market, earning over eighty billion dollars from vaccine sales while quadrupling prices in 2023. Pfizer responded by stating its representations have been accurate and science-based, standing firmly behind the safety and efficacy of its vaccine.
