Packers signing former first-round OL off Cowboys practice squad amid struggles, per report

Tap title to read story

The Green Bay Packers signed veteran offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad to address major depth concerns and protection struggles. The move follows a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons where quarterback Jordan Love faced heavy pressure. Green Bay needed immediate reinforcement after right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon. Tomlinson, a 34-year-old former first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, brings eleven years of experience across multiple franchises, including a Pro Bowl selection with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. Because NFL regulations require practice squad signings from other organizations to join the active 53-man roster immediately, Tomlinson is expected to contribute right away. The Packers hope his extensive veteran presence can stabilize an injury-riddled unit tasked with keeping their starting quarterback protected through the remainder of the regular season schedule.
