Nick Chubb Signs One-Day Contract to Retire as a Cleveland Brown

Former NFL running back Nick Chubb has officially signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a member of the Cleveland Browns. Chubb, who initially announced his retirement in August following an eight-year career, spent his first seven seasons in Cleveland before playing the 2025 campaign with the Houston Texans. Selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Chubb established himself as one of the league's most productive and efficient rushers. He accumulated 6,843 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns during his tenure with Cleveland, ranking third in franchise history behind Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly. Over his career, he earned four Pro Bowl selections and finished with an average of over five yards per carry. Chubb will remain in Ohio to serve as the captain of the Dawg Pound during the Browns' upcoming home opener against the Carolina Panthers.
