An international coalition of more than 60 researchers released the annual Planetary Health Check report, warning that seven of Earth's nine critical life-support boundaries have been heavily breached. Published under the auspices of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the assessment notes that indicators for climate change, biosphere integrity, land system change, freshwater change, biogeochemical flows, novel entities, and ocean acidification are operating outside safe human parameters. Lead author Boris Sakschewski stated that pressure is accelerating across all transgressed boundaries, raising the risk of irreversible environmental shifts. The findings highlight that natural carbon sinks, including major rainforests and oceans, are showing systemic strain from mounting pollution and warming temperatures. Environmental delegates meeting in New York urged immediate regulatory measures to protect global stability.
