New York Mets first baseman Jared Young was transported to a local hospital Thursday night following a severe on-field collision with starting pitcher Nolan McLean during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. The incident occurred in the top of the sixth inning when Justin Crawford hit a slow ground ball near the first base line. Both players converged on the play, resulting in McLean kneeing Young in the head as the first baseman bent down to field the ball.
