German rocket maker Isar Aerospace plans to more than double capacity in 2028

German orbital launch provider Isar Aerospace announced on September 15, 2026, plans to more than double its flight capacity in 2028 to satisfy surging commercial and defense demand for Low Earth Orbit satellite launches. Speaking at an industry press conference, Chief Commercial Officer Stella Guillen confirmed that all planned 2028 capacity is already fully contracted. The Munich-headquartered startup targets at least four Spectrum-class missions in 2027 following a successful maiden orbital test launch from Andøya Spaceport in Arctic Norway on September 5, 2026. Guillen noted current market demand could theoretically absorb nearly 200 Spectrum vehicles in 2028. To scale output, Isar is transitioning into a new integrated manufacturing facility capable of producing 40 rockets annually. Additionally, the company signed a five-flight agreement with U.S. satellite integrator SEOPS covering missions from Norway and Canada between 2028 and 2030.
