As Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale approaches his 90th birthday, Blackstone Publishing announced plans to reissue his 1970 jailhouse memoir, Seize the Time, in February. The release will be followed by a brand-new book titled I, Bobby, slated for late 2027. Seale, who co-established the militant organization in Oakland in 1966, stated that the publications aim to reclaim his historical narrative from misrepresentation. The original memoir, written while Seale was imprisoned during the late 1960s, has been out of print and will now debut in e-book and audio editions with an introduction by D.L. Hughley. Seale later taught Black studies and collaborated on photographic history projects. In his upcoming memoir, he intends to address internal party fractures and intense government persecution under the FBI. Blackstone confirmed that the projects offer Seale an autonomous platform to document his life and the legacy of the Black Power movement.
