The Boston Celtics have agreed to a contract with former lottery pick guard Devin Carter ahead of the upcoming training camp. Carter, 24, was originally selected 13th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2024 National Basketball Association Draft. His early professional career was impacted by injuries and a crowded backcourt rotation, limiting him to 74 total appearances across his first two seasons. During the 2025-26 campaign, he appeared in 38 games and averaged 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists over 18.4 minutes per contest. In June, Sacramento traded Carter to the Atlanta Hawks in a roster reconfiguration. The Hawks subsequently waived Carter on September 11, making him an unrestricted free agent. With Boston, Carter will compete for a roster spot or a two-way contract during training camp, joining a revamped roster featuring established stars Jayson Tatum and Paul George following major offseason personnel changes.
