Rapper Lil Durk Found Not Guilty of Federal Murder-for-Hire Charges in Los Angeles Trial

PUBLISHED Sep 12, 2026, 1:30 AM ET

A federal jury in Los Angeles acquitted Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk of all charges in a high-profile murder-for-hire trial. The verdict delivered on September 11, 2026, concluded a two-week trial centered on an August 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Saviay'a Robinson. Prosecutors alleged that the artist, whose legal name is Durk Banks, financed and orchestrated a plot to target rival rapper Tyquian Bowman, known as Quando Rondo, as retaliation for the 2020 killing of Chicago rapper King Von. Defense attorneys argued that cooperating witnesses lacked credibility and maintained that Banks had no connection to the crime. Following three days of deliberations, the jury found Banks not guilty on all five counts, including conspiracy and murder-for-hire. Despite the acquittal, Banks remains in federal custody ahead of an unrelated racketeering trial scheduled for October.
