Roblox announced plans to let creators distribute games as standalone applications across mobile, personal computers, and consoles while providing underlying technology services. Speaking at its annual developers conference on Friday, the company stated that players will also be able to join games directly within the Google Chrome browser from an Experience Details page by the end of the year without requiring an app download. Additionally, Roblox is introducing support for combined online and offline modes to enable single-player campaigns without network connections. The platform is expanding generative AI tools for development, including Build, Scene Generator, and automated non-player character playtesters. Roblox reported that approximately 9,000 games have been published using the Build text-prompt tool since its July introduction, with seventy-one percent of those creators having no prior experience using Roblox Studio. The developer expansion strategy aims to extend game accessibility beyond the main Roblox application ecosystem while lowering technical barriers for game creation across global markets.
