Aryna Sabalenka defeated Linda Noskova 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 in a thrilling quarterfinal match at the United States Open on Tuesday to advance to the tournament semifinals for the sixth consecutive year. Sabalenka secured the victory in Flushing Meadows by winning a tense third-set tiebreaker, finishing the match with a second-serve ace after nearly three hours of intense competition. The reigning champion faced elimination when Noskova claimed a 4-2 lead in the final set before mounting a decisive comeback to preserve her hopes for a third straight title. Noskova recorded 46 winners and 18 aces during the hard-fought encounter. Sabalenka will advance to face either Jessica Pegula or Emma Navarro in the next round. The victory also preserves Sabalenka’s mathematical chance of retaining the Women’s Tennis Association number one ranking depending on subsequent tournament results.
