Rob Reiner Wins Posthumous Emmy for 'The Bear' with Standing Ovation

Late filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner won the Outstanding Guest Actor Award in a Comedy Series for his performance in the FX series The Bear at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Night Two held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The award was presented posthumously nine months after Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner died in December 2025. Presenter Wendi McLendon Covey accepted the trophy on Reiner's behalf following a minute long standing ovation from the audience. Reiner defeated fellow nominees including Michael J Fox and Brett Goldstein for Shrinking, Hamish Linklater for Widow's Bay, Christopher McDonald for Hacks, and Connor Storrie for Saturday Night Live. This marks Reiner's first acting Emmy win since 1978 when he won for All in the Family. It is also the first posthumous Emmy victory for an on camera performance since Raul Julia won in 1995.
