Japanese motor-maker Nidec says it found hundreds of cases of quality control misconduct

Japanese motor manufacturer Nidec Corporation released findings from an internal investigation revealing 844 instances of quality control misconduct spanning the past decade. Chief Executive Mitsuya Kishida publicly apologized during a press conference in Tokyo, attributing the infractions primarily to altered product materials, modified manufacturing processes, falsified testing, and false labeling without formal authorization. Company representatives stated that the violations stemmed from intensive internal pressure on employees to achieve rapid output and reduce operational costs during a period of swift corporate expansion. Officials confirmed that the transgressions date back to 2012 and surfaced following an accounting fraud investigation last year. Despite uncovering hundreds of violations across a company employing over 100,000 workers globally, management emphasized that no immediate product safety hazards have been identified and massive recalls will not be necessary. Senior leadership pledged to overhaul corporate governance and compliance standards across all operating groups to ensure strict adherence to manufacturing protocols.
