NASA awarded Blue Origin a firm-fixed-price contract worth up to $700 million to design, develop, integrate, launch, and operate the Mars Telecommunications Network. Under this agreement, Jeff Bezos' aerospace company must deliver a high-performance Mars communications orbiter to the agency no later than December 31, 2028. The spacecraft is scheduled to become fully operational at Mars by 2030. Built upon Blue Origin’s advanced Blue Ring platform, the orbiter will serve as a dedicated high-bandwidth relay system. It will transmit vital science data, high-definition imagery, navigation information, and mission communications between Earth and assets operating on or around the Martian surface.
