Anthony Davis Could Demand Trade If Wizards Struggle

Washington Wizards forward Anthony Davis could request a trade if the team experiences a slow start to the upcoming NBA season, according to ESPN reporting. Davis and franchise officials have agreed to postpone contract extension discussions until after regular-season play commences. The potential move stems from durability concerns after Davis appeared in only 71 combined games across the previous two seasons while undergoing multiple trades. Washington enters the campaign following significant roster overhauls, highlighted by a four-year, $212 million contract extension for star point guard Trae Young and the selection of AJ Dybantsa with the top overall pick in the recent draft. If Davis forces a departure, the front office retains a deep core of young assets including Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George. Conversely, a strong opening stretch could prompt Davis to commit long-term alongside Young and Dybantsa.
