PUBLISHED Sep 1, 2026, 10:45 AM ET
Texas Christian University wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma suffered a concussion and a brain bleed following an alleged locker room assault by teammate Jacob Fields. According to an arrest warrant affidavit released on August 31, 2026, Fields punched and kicked Ezukanma in the head after practice because Ezukanma was outplaying him. Ezukanma was hospitalized for three days, causing him to miss the season opener against North Carolina. Fields, a defensive back who transferred from Louisiana Tech, was booked into jail on aggravated assault charges, posted a $50,000 bond, and was dismissed from the team on August 15. Following his arrest, Fields texted Ezukanma to apologize and offer to cover medical bills. The Tarrant County District Attorney's office is investigating the case, while head coach Sonny Dykes has not publicly addressed the affidavit details.
