Robert earns a twenty million dollar salary this season, with approximately two million nine hundred ninety thousand dollars remaining. Baltimore assumes the full remainder of his salary, relieving the Mets of that financial obligation and luxury tax penalties. The transaction saves New York roughly six million two hundred ninety thousand dollars before accounting for a two million dollar buyout on next year option. Robert joins Baltimore with the team trailing one game back in the American League Wild Card race. Across two hundred eighteen plate appearances this season, Robert batted twenty-three-three with ten home runs and two stolen bases. Following his departure, the Mets recalled outfielder Nick Morabito from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the open roster spot.
