Chinese artificial intelligence company Zhipu AI has officially revealed that the viral mystery model known as Ox Alpha is its pre-test version of GLM-5.3-Flash. Emerging anonymously on router platforms on August 20 with no disclosed architecture or creator details, the system rapidly scaled to become a heavily utilized platform, processing over 27 trillion tokens within its first week. Built with a 320 billion parameter Mixture of Experts architecture that activates only 18 billion parameters per query, the model achieves efficiency allowing local execution on personal computers. Independent benchmark evaluations position its general capabilities near leading proprietary Western models while offering aggressive cost advantages at fifteen cents per million input tokens. Released under a permissive MIT license, the development highlights intensifying global competition and shifting economic pressures across the generative artificial intelligence sector.
