Hovland surges to a 1-shot lead at Tour Championship with cast of challengers lined up behind him

Viktor Hovland took a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final round of the Tour Championship after shooting a 5-under 65 Saturday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Rory McIlroy moved into contention with a 7-under 63, leaving him five shots back. Cameron Young was also within range after a 68. The season finale awards $10 million to the winner and the FedExCup title, which includes a five-year PGA Tour exemption. Hovland won the FedExCup in 2023. The final round is scheduled for Sunday, with Hovland and Gerard in the last pairing. The field remained tightly packed entering Sunday’s decisive round.
