Taylor Swift Breaks Silence on 'Ups and Downs' After First London Trip Without Travis Kelce

PUBLISHED Aug 25, 2026, 11:31 AM ET

Taylor Swift discussed fame’s pressures and her commitment to music during a Recording Academy retrospective released Monday, after attending a wedding in England without husband Travis Kelce. The 36-year-old singer appeared Aug. 18 at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles for The Icon Sessions with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. Swift said one coping mechanism is reminding herself, “You chose this,” because she could have left before her career became “unmanageably big.” She said she continues because she loves making music. The conversation did not identify Kelce or their marriage as the reason for those comments. Swift also performed a piano medley of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” “August” and “All Too Well.” She had attended engineers Laura Sisk and Oli Jacobs’ Aug. 15 wedding at Real World Studios in Gloucestershire. Kelce was not present. Evidence supports the interview and performance, but not claims Swift addressed marital difficulties.
