Apple is cutting more than 200 positions across teams developing Siri, Vision Pro and related software, as it redirects resources toward artificial intelligence and future devices, according to Bloomberg and Apple. About 100 roles are being eliminated in the Vision Products Group, while roughly 100 more affect Siri and software teams, including the Intelligent Systems Experience unit. Apple is largely shutting its Vision Pro gaming team and reducing its in-house immersive-video operation, while encouraging outside developers and studios to create content. The company told employees that Vision Pro and visionOS will continue, although near-term hardware work is shifting toward lighter smart glasses. Siri’s restructuring accompanies Apple’s planned AI-focused assistant, built on a new technical architecture requiring different expertise. Apple said affected employees can seek internal openings and receive transition support at Apple. A possible next Vision Pro model remains under consideration for late 2028, while smart-glasses plans could advance sooner.
