British actor Kit Harington has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming television adaptation of the Harry Potter franchise, stepping into the role of Gilderoy Lockhart for the show's second season. Harington replaces actor Nicholas Hoult, who departed the production due to scheduling conflicts following recent shifts in the filming calendar. The series, produced by Warner Bros. Television, is based on J.K. Rowling’s multi-book fantasy universe. Harington is widely recognized for his portrayal of Jon Snow in the network's fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, as well as his role in the financial drama Industry. This casting marks a return to the wizarding world for Harington, who previously voiced the narcissistic Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in an audiobook adaptation released last year. Season two will adapt the events of the second novel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with production scheduled to commence in the upcoming autumn season.
