Klutch Sports Group founder Rich Paul revealed on the "Game Over" podcast that he advised client Peyton Watson to sit out the 2026 NBA playoffs to protect his financial future. Watson, playing for the Denver Nuggets, suffered a hamstring strain in early April and missed the team's first-round series loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Paul emphasized the necessity of protecting competitive athletes from themselves when substantial upcoming contracts are at stake. The admission emerged shortly after Watson was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a sign-and-trade deal. Following the trade, Watson agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract extension with Cleveland.
