Nick Chubb announced his retirement from the NFL on Aug. 21, ending an eight-season career at age 30. The four-time Pro Bowl running back made the announcement in an Instagram post, saying he was ready to move on and wanted to finish healthy after a winning season. Chubb was selected 35th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 draft and spent seven seasons with Cleveland before joining the Houston Texans for 2025. He finished with 7,349 rushing yards, 1,109 receiving yards and 59 total touchdowns in 100 games, according to NFL statistics. Chubb earned Pro Bowl selections from 2019 through 2022 and rushed for a career-high 1,525 yards in 2022. His career was altered by a left-knee injury in Week 2 of 2023, followed by extensive rehabilitation. The Browns said they would welcome him back to retire as a Brown. His retirement leaves Cleveland fans with a franchise legacy.
