New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is facing a potential season-ending injury after suffering a moderate left calf strain during a baserunning drill. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed the setback on August 22, 2026, noting that Stanton fell while nearing the final stages of his rehabilitation from a separate right calf injury that sidelined him in April. Boone admitted that given the remaining time in the calendar, a return this regular season is highly challenging. Stanton has appeared in only 24 games this year, batting .256 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. The injury compounds a difficult campaign for the veteran slugger, who has dealt with multiple lower-body issues. Meanwhile, the Yankees also placed starting pitcher Ryan Weathers on the injured list with a left forearm flexor strain, though outfielder Cody Bellinger was activated to provide immediate offensive reinforcement.
