Giants-Dolphins Massive Brawl Leads To NFL Punishment

Multiple fights erupted during the New York Giants’ joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Aug. 20, in Miami Gardens, with several players removed after punches and escalating scuffles. Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter and Dolphins tackle Patrick Paul were involved in an early confrontation, while Dolphins right tackle Austin Jackson and Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux clashed later. Giants quarterback Jameis Winston was caught in a melee and was removed, while Giants tackle Jermaine Eluemunor was pulled after throwing a punch, according to coach John Harbaugh. The teams had agreed before practice that players throwing punches would be removed. The NFL had warned all clubs that joint-practice violence could bring individual or team discipline. On the same day, the league fined the Cowboys and Saints $500,000 each for their Aug. 18 brawl. No NFL punishment for the Giants or Dolphins had been announced by the final freshness check. �
