A Los Angeles County grand jury has formally indicted Nick Reiner on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbings of his parents, acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner. The victims were discovered deceased inside their Brentwood residence following a fire at the scene that complicated initial identification efforts. Their daughter reportedly discovered the bodies and alerted law enforcement, expressing immediate concern regarding her brother's safety and behavior. Nick Reiner, who has a documented history of severe drug addiction and treatment struggles, was arrested by local authorities on the day of the incident. Prosecutors have added special circumstance allegations of lying in wait and the personal use of a deadly weapon, elevating the charges to capital severity. Reiner pleaded not guilty during his arraignment and is currently held without bail in custody pending upcoming legal proceedings scheduled for September 2026.
