Hayden Panettiere Death Investigated as Possible Homicide

Actress Hayden Panettiere died August 16 in Greenville, South Carolina, while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. Greenville police said officers and EMS responded at about 1:51 p.m. to Judson Mill Lofts after an acquaintance reported an unresponsive woman. Panettiere, 36, was found in cardiac arrest and pronounced dead after resuscitation failed. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy found no trauma that contributed to her death, while the cause and manner remain pending testing, including toxicology. Dispatch audio referenced a possible overdose, and Narcan was reportedly found at the residence, but neither establishes an overdose as the official cause. A redacted police report says Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach were present. Hickerson has a documented history of domestic-violence proceedings involving Panettiere. Police initially reported no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. The DEA has since joined the investigation, adding scrutiny while officials await toxicology results.
