Police conducted a welfare check Wednesday at Brian Hickerson’s family home, days after actress Hayden Panettiere died in Greenville, but authorities said the visit was unrelated to her death investigation. Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive Sunday at a residence where she stayed and was pronounced dead after responders attempted resuscitation. A heavily redacted Greenville Police Department report says Hickerson and his brother, Zach, were present when Panettiere suffered cardiac arrest. Dispatch audio referenced a possible overdose, while Narcan was reportedly found at the residence, but authorities have not established an official cause of death. The coroner said an autopsy found no trauma; cause and manner remain pending. Hickerson previously pleaded no contest to felony counts involving injury to Panettiere. Police have reported no signs of foul play. The welfare check produced no incident report and was explicitly described as unrelated to the death investigation while authorities continue reviewing the death.
