Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a standout performance, hitting two home runs and robbing Francisco Lindor of a grand slam to lead the San Diego Padres to a 5-2 victory over the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Tatis launched his 18th career leadoff home run in the first inning, a 452-foot shot, and added a two-run homer in the fifth. His defensive highlight occurred in the second inning when he leaped above the right-field wall to deny Lindor a potential grand slam. Padres starting pitcher Robbie Ray earned his first win since joining the team at the trade deadline, tossing six innings and striking out four. Manny Machado also contributed with a ninth-inning solo homer. The victory marks a significant resurgence for the Padres, who have posted an 18-6 record since late July, while the loss halted the Mets’ four-game winning streak.
