The USS Abraham Lincoln’s record deployment is facing intensified scrutiny over crew welfare, logistics and Pentagon transparency as the carrier supports U.S. operations against Iran. The carrier left San Diego on November 21, 2025, and has spent more than 260 days deployed, including more than 200 days without a port call. Families and Democratic lawmakers have reported shortages, sanitation problems and mental-health concerns, while the Navy disputes claims of increased suicidality and says the ship remains operationally capable. One sailor went overboard August 3 and was rescued, according to U.S. officials. President Donald Trump said August 14 that the deployment was not nearly long enough while confirming the USS George Washington would soon replace Lincoln. Separately, satellite imagery documented significant Iranian damage at Naval Support Activity Bahrain. New reporting now alleges the damage disrupted logistics and that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth withheld its extent. That allegation is not independently established.
