Umatilla County’s advisory does not substantiate the supplied Aug. 19 Paradise Fire evacuation update. The county’s Paradise Fire notice, issued Aug. 5, raised evacuation levels to Level 2 for residences east of Tiger Canyon Road along Mill Creek Road, while its current advisory separately lists Level 3 evacuations for the Hagen Fire. Federal wildfire reporting dated Aug. 12 identified the Paradise Fire at the Umatilla National Forest, managed by Northern Rockies Team 6, with active uphill runs, flanking and spotting, plus area, road and trail closures. Those records do not verify the claims that the Paradise Fire reached 5,423 acres, remained 0% contained, or transferred command to Southern Area Team 3 on Aug. 19. Searches found no accessible primary-source notice confirming the Level 3 boundaries. The Paradise Fire is genuine and affects the Mill Creek Watershed near the Oregon-Washington border, but the latest narrative should not be published as breaking news.
