Major League Baseball owners unanimously approved the sale of the San Diego Padres to private equity billionaire Jose Feliciano and Kwanza Jones on Monday. The transaction carries a record valuation of 3.9 billion dollars, transferring control from the family of the late Peter Seidler. Feliciano and Jones reached an agreement to purchase the franchise in May following a competitive bidding process initiated last November. Commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed the league vote, praising the franchise stability and passionate fan base in San Diego. Feliciano, founder of Clearlake Capital, becomes the second Latino principal owner in Major League Baseball history.
