Semiconductor developer Cerebras Systems experienced an 18% stock decline in extended trading on August 12, 2026, following the release of its second-quarter financial results. The company reported GAAP revenue of $180.1 million, missing Wall Street expectations of $194 million despite achieving 74% year-over-year growth. The lower-than-projected revenue was primarily driven by a 23% drop in hardware sales to $54.1 million. Conversely, Cerebras' cloud computing and services division expanded significantly, surging 281% year-over-year to $126 million and becoming its primary revenue generator. Net losses reached $450.5 million, largely affected by $386.6 million in stock-based compensation costs following its initial public offering earlier in 2026. Despite immediate selling pressure, Cerebras raised its full-year 2026 core revenue outlook to between $880 million and $890 million. Chief Executive Officer Andrew Feldman attributed the hardware performance to cyclical buying patterns while emphasizing growing enterprise demand for AI inference capacity.
