San Francisco Giants Suspend Salary for Injured Outfielder Harrison Bader After Scooter Accident

The San Francisco Giants have suspended salary payments to injured outfielder Harrison Bader following a scooter accident that worsened his left-foot injury. Bader had been sidelined since late May due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. According to the San Francisco Giants, the injury worsened after Bader was involved in a vehicle collision while riding a motorized scooter around 2:00 a.m. in San Francisco's Marina District. He received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital following the collision. Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey addressed the incident in a public statement. Posey stated that the accident delayed Bader's prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and his anticipated return to the field. Posey confirmed that the organization is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and is suspending payment of Bader's salary until he is able to resume performing services for the club. Bader signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the San Francisco Giants prior to the 2026 Major League Baseball season. His deal included a $4.5 million base salary for the current season, with approximately $1.42 million remaining for the rest of the year. Before landing on the injured list at the end of May, Bader appeared in 30 games for the Giants, recording a .170 batting average with five home runs, 14 RBIs, and a .557 OPS. The additional foot injury further extended his absence, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
