Philadelphia Eagles Sign Jalen Carter to Record Four-Year, $152 Million Extension

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive tackle Jalen Carter to a four-year contract extension through the 2031 NFL season, the team confirmed as players reported to the facility for the opening of training camp. The deal is worth $152 million and could reach $160 million with incentives, including $106 million in guaranteed money, making Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. Philadelphia had already exercised Carter’s fifth-year option for the 2027 campaign, and this new agreement now extends his contract beyond that season, locking him in as a central piece of the team’s long-term roster planning on the defensive side of the ball. Carter, selected ninth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Georgia, quickly emerged as one of the league’s top interior defensive linemen. As a rookie in 2023, he played 48 percent of the Eagles’ defensive snaps, recording six sacks and 47 quarterback pressures while earning Pro Bowl honors. He followed that with an All-Pro season in 2024, helping lead the Eagles’ defense to the top ranking in the NFL and pacing the team with 45 pressures, 16 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for loss. In 2025, he made his second straight Pro Bowl, appearing in 11 games and posting 33 total tackles, 29 pressures, 12 quarterback hits, seven passes defensed and three sacks, solidifying his role as a foundational anchor on Philadelphia’s interior defensive line.
