United States launches B-1 strikes on Iran

The United States has carried out a twelfth consecutive night of airstrikes against targets linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps across the Middle East, according to U.S. Central Command. The latest operations, conducted in recent days, included the first use in this campaign of a U.S. Air Force B-1 long-range bomber, striking drone and missile storage sites, coastal surveillance positions, maritime capabilities and air defenses. U.S. officials say the aim is to reduce Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping and enforce its attempted closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has warned it will retaliate against regional states supporting the strikes.
